Business Needs Analysis
(requirements specification)
Defining requirements is an essential precursor to going out to tender for a new system. Carefully focusing on business requirements rather than the features and functions on offer from short listed suppliers helps further down the line in providing gap analysis and identifying areas for further development. It is also a valuable way of gaining user buy-in to a new rollout at an early stage.
Equally, requirements need to be realistic and in line with what is possible. We have a wealth of experience of working with leading suppliers and clients in the local government sector to specify requirements.
Interview sessions with team leaders and key users of the system paint a picture of how they currently use the system; where it is constraining current work and where they would like it to improve. We take into account workloads and work patterns; user acceptance levels; technology constraints and new technology enhancements.
The process leads to a requirements specification document, with requirements in different areas itemised and weighted according to their importance.
